The Cagayan Electric Power & Light Company, Inc. (CEPALCO), started its electric distribution operations in Cagayan de Oro City in 1923, with a modest power generating capacity of about 200kW serving close to a hundred customers.
Today, CEPALCO is the 4th largest electric distribution company in the Philippines, serving Cagayan de Oro City and the municipalities of Tagoloan, Villanueva and Jasaan, including the 3,000-hectare PHIVIDEC Industrial Estate all in the province of Misamis Oriental.
CEPALCO now serves over 175,000 customers.
To keep pace with the industrial and commercial boom of Northern Mindanao and the ever-increasing power requirements of its service area, CEPALCO embarked on a long-range plan to build the company, its facilities, manpower and expertise.
Modern facilities and equipment and an efficient and reliable electric service network have transformed CEPALCO into one of the most responsive and dependable electric service companies in the Philippines.
And as a corporate citizen, CEPALCO recognizes its corporate social responsibility towards building better social, economic and environmental conditions for the upliftment and well-being of the members of the community that it serves. It is for this reason that thru the years, CEPALCO has continuously extended its full support to various socio-civic, economic and environmental programs in the community. Just recently, CEPALCO received recognition as having the best corporate social responsibility program in Mindanao.

This year 2023, CEPALCO is celebrating its 100th year of service.
